Animated Vampire Decorations

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

On a rainy and stormy night I love curling up in bed under a bunch of quilts and watching scary old black and white vampire movies. (I prefer it when the blood isn’t bright red!). This has gotten easier because we’ve taken our flat panel television and mounted it on the wall so that it’s more comfortable to see when we’re lying in bed. So my neck doesn’t get a crick in it.

All of this fascination with vampires started for me when I’d come home from school and watch the Victorian soap opera Dark Shadows. The melancholy vampire Barnabus was one of my favorites. I’ve even visted the Newport, Rhode Island Mansion where Dark Shadows was filmed. So it’s now surprise that I love adding vampires into my decorations for Halloween.

Large animated vampires in their tux and capes make quite a statement in your front yard. For a touch of humor, I”ve added an inflatable animated hot road vampire coffin. Both kids and their parents enjoy this Halloween prop. I add red and black paper and plastic roses for a romantic touch.

You can decorate yourself for Halloween and coordinate with your vampire decor. Of course I’ll have my vampire fangs in. Instead of a black dress, I think I’m doing a red sequin cocktail dress and I’ll be holding black roses. Vampires do love to dress up.
